A unique and practical exploration of Maths linked to the EYFS. Explore an amazing range of budget 

busting ideas within our unique training venue. A chance to get hands on with a heap of exciting ideas to encourage children to explore mathematical ideas and skills as part of play-based learning.

Phase One Letters and Sounds

TWO SESSIONS ~ Thursday 3rd October 2019 & Saturday 5th October ~ 9.30am to 12.30pm

So what comes before the phonics? How do we get children ready for starting to hear letter sounds? 

This practical course explores lots of fun ideas to add early literacy potential to your child led learning environment. An array of exciting play-based activities to build on potential for learning within our own unique training environment packed full of budget friendly resources. 

Outdoor Learning in Early Years

Thursday 10th October 2019 ~ 9.30am to 3.30pm

Explore why outdoor learning is so important and develop your understanding of how it differs from indoor environments. A hands on, wellies on day packed full of practical and affordable ideas to enhance play based exploration and learning across the curriculum. 

Maths Outdoors in Early Years

Saturday 12th October 2019 ~ 9.30am to 12.30pm

From counting to sorting, matching, patterns and shapes - the outdoor learning environment has it all.
Explore how children can develop their mathematical skills and understanding from developing exciting and engaging outdoor environments. No a laminated numberline in sight! 

Science in Early Years

Thursday 17th October 2019 ~ 9.30am to 3.30pm

Explore the man made and natural worlds without an ‘experiment’ in sight. An exciting (and often messy) look at how children make sense of the world around them in a play based, child centred environment. Come and join us at our unique training centre dedicated solely to early years training and come away with a heap of affordable ideas to use in your setting. 

Physical Development

Saturday 19th October 2019 ~ 9.30am to 12.30pm

Step away from bikes and trikes and explore a whole world of play-based exploration at the same time as developing both gross and fine motor skills. This practical, ideas filled session will give you an insight into the importance of developing physical skills in early years and its potential impact on lifelong learning. 

Characteristics of Effective Learning

Thursday 24th October 2019 ~ 9.30am to 3.30pm

Key to any good early years setting is a focus on the Characteristics of Effective Learning. This ideas based training day will explore why these are so important to lifelong learning and the impact on how you enable your environments for play and learning. Suitable for early years staff and anyone looking to use characteristics of effective learning in key stage 1 and beyond.

Getting Ready for Writing

Thursday 7th November 2019 ~ 9.30am to 3.30pm

Being able to write is not just about how you hold a pencil! This resource and activity centred day will look at the skills needed to ensure children are both ready and excited to write. Explore how to enable your environment for writing and how to support writing opportunities in early years play based settings. 

Creativity in Early Years

Saturday 9th November 2019 ~ 9.30am to 12.30pm

This practical and potentially messy session explores the difference between supporting creativity and making children create. Step away from the easel and take the opportunity to enable exciting environments throughout your setting to develop creative thinking and skills in young children. A strictly no Christmas card zone! 

Enabling Environments for Learning in Early Years

Thursday 14th November 2019 ~ 9.30am to 3.30pm

How you set up your environment has a direct impact on the potential for learning in your setting. Explore the thinking behind making your environment exciting and engaging and help you to plan for the potential of learning. Take away an array of affordable (and often free) resource ideas. 

EYFS on a Shoestring

Saturday 16th November 2019 ~ 9.30am to 12.30pm

With budgets ever stretched and an emphasis on being environmentally aware, this session will allow you to explore a wide range of up-cycled, recycled and preloved resources to make your early years provision open ended, engaging and exciting. 

Getting Ready for Reading

TWO SESSIONS ~ Thursday 21st November 2019 & Saturday 23rd November 2019 ~ 9.30am to 12.30pm

Step away from synthetic phonics and explore some of the other ways that children learn to read. This session will help you to make your child led environment a text rich, child friendly environment that actively celebrated reading skills. 

Empathy Dolls Approach to Emotional Awareness

Thursday 28th November 2019 ~ 9.30am to 3.30pm

Kirstine Beeley, creator of the Empathy Dolls Approach, relaunches the approach which explores emotional awareness in early years  used by local authorities across the UK comes to Buckinghamshire. Explore the importance and complications of emotional awareness in young children and develop your own doll as you go. Includes a doll per person worth over £50.

Building Partnerships with Parents in Early Years

Thursday 5th December 2019 ~ 9.30am to 12.30pm

Positive partnerships with parents are vital to ensuring support for children both emotionally and from a learning perspective. Explore ideas for making your setting a shared space in which parents are acknowledged as ‘first and enduring educators’. Build ideas of how to support the whole family and not just the child.
